The Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and the Board of Trustees awarded the 2023 Heinrich Wieland Prize to

 

Professor Dr Dr h.c. Matthias H. Tschöp

Helmholtz Munich & Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany

 

for his seminal discoveries of physiological mechanisms regulating food intake and body weight and exploiting these to develop new therapeutic strategies to treat obesity and diabetes.
